wildflowers
today i went on a spontaneous bike ride with my dad at the end of the evening. the clouds covered the sky & turned them pink. my dad, you see, is a lover of outside {i get that part from him as well} & he taught me how to find monarch butterfly cacoons. you see, in Utah, there are milkweeds that grow on the side of biking paths & busy roads, but they have a little secret. monarch caterpillars {you know, those yellow, black & white ones with tiny antennas?} live on these wild plants & we were looking to discover them. we didn't find any because this august has been quite rainy & cold, but it was nice to enjoy the weather with my old man. i'm a bit thankful i haven't moved out to attend college yet, so i can see my family, even if that means we didn't actually find any caterpillars in a light green blanket, waiting to fly away from this place.
life is good.
